Course Information
This qualification is intended for assessors who assess occupational competence in an individual's work environment. It includes the following assessment methods (although not all of these require performance evidence):

observation of performance in the work environment

examining products of work

questioning the learner

discussing with the learner

use of others (witness testimony)

looking at learner statements

recognising prior learning.
Qualification Aims and Objectives
The aim of this unit is to assess the trainee Assessor's performance in assessing occupational competence in an individual's work environment.
The objective of the qualification is to support a role in the workplace.
Is this course suitable for me?
The are no formal entry requirements for this course.
You should have access to a Real Work Environment (RWE) in which you can assess the occupational competence of two learners in a work environment.
You should be at least 19 years of age and should be occupationally competent in the skills you are assessing. Ideally, you should have qualifications in Maths, English and IT at level 2 or be prepared to work towards them if you are planning to work in the sector.
What will I learn?
You will study two units:

Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
The aim of this unit is to develop your knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices that underpin assessment.

Assess Occupational Competence in a Work Environment
The aim of this unit is to develop your ability to assess occupational competence in an individual’s work environment.
How will I learn?
You will take part in two interactive live lessons online, facilitated by one of our expert trainers who has over 25 years' experience in different settings in the FE & Skills sector. Each 3-hour session is fast-paced, camera-on, and discussion-heavy: expect breakout debates, real-time polls, and mini challenges that put theory to the test.
Between classes, you'll extend your learning through short, targeted research tasks and reflective activities.
You will complete your learning with 1:1 and small group tutorials held online with your tutor.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment for this course is practical, reflective and designed to support your professional development. You’ll complete structured course workbooks that capture your learning for each unit, your reflections on key topics and your independent research.
You’ll complete a portfolio of evidence that is internally marked and externally quality assured.
There are no exams.
What will I achieve?
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve NCFE Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in a Work Environment.
The qualification is awarded by NCFE and regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) in England.
How long will it take?
You should aim to complete the course within 3-6 months.

This course fee is £250.00
