What will I learn?
You will study three units:
-
Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
You will develop a deep understanding of the role and responsibilities of a teacher in education and training, and the relationship between different professionals in education and training.
-
Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
You will understand and use inclusive teaching and learning approaches to meet the needs of your learners. The unit includes how to create a learning environment that engages and motivates learners, and the planning, delivery and evaluation of inclusive teaching and learning. You will also deliver a microteaching session and evaluate your own delivery practice.
-
Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
The aim of this unit is to develop and assess your knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of assessment.
How will I learn?
You'll take part in six interactive live lessons online, facilitated by one of our expert trainers who has over 25 years' experience in different settings in the FE & Skills sector. Each 3-hour session is fast-paced, camera-on, and discussion-heavy: expect breakout debates, real-time polls, and mini challenges that put theory to the test.
Between classes, you'll extend your learning through short, targeted research tasks and reflective activities. Everything builds towards your own micro-teach, a bite-sized lesson you’ll deliver to the group in Week 6, when you’ll share constructive feedback with your peers and your tutor.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment for this course is practical, reflective and designed to support your professional development. You’ll complete structured course workbooks that capture your learning for each unit, your reflections on key topics and your independent research. These are submitted throughout the course.
You’ll also be assessed on your engagement in the live sessions, including your participation in discussions and group tasks. A key part of the course is your micro-teach session, where you’ll plan and deliver a short teaching activity to your peers. You’ll receive feedback from the tutor and group, and you’ll also be expected to provide thoughtful, constructive feedback to others during their micro-teach.
Together, these elements ensure you’re not only absorbing the theory but actively applying it in a supportive, professional environment.
