The Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning provides learners with an understanding of the knowledge needed when working directly with children and young people in a school or college environment. It will enable learners to gain an understanding of elements, including children and young people’s development, safeguarding their welfare, and communication and professional relationships.

The minimum age for a learner taking this qualification is 16 years old.
This qualification is aimed at learners working in support roles within schools and colleges.

How will I learn?
You'll take part in weekly interactive live lessons online for 20 weeks. Each 3-hour session is fast-paced, camera-on, and discussion-heavy: expect breakout debates, real-time polls, and mini challenges that put theory to the test.
Between classes, you'll extend your learning through short, targeted research tasks and reflective activities to build your portfolio of evidence.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment for this course is practical, reflective and designed to support your professional development. You’ll complete structured course workbooks that capture your learning for each unit, your reflections on key topics and your independent research. These are submitted throughout the course.
You’ll also be assessed on your engagement in the live sessions, including your participation in discussions and group tasks.
Together, these elements ensure you’re not only absorbing the theory but actively applying it in a supportive, professional environment. Simulation is not allowed. You must be in a real work environment.
What will I achieve?
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
The qualification is awarded by NCFE and regulated by the Office for Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) in England.
How long will it take?
The Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning can usually be completed in 12 months.
What will it cost?
This course fee is £650.00
This includes registration with the Awarding Organisation and certification. There are no additional fees.
Is there anything else I should know?
As you need to show competence in both skills and knowledge, you will need to be working or be on a practical placement during the taught programme of study in a learning environment (school or college). We recommend that you undertake 100 hours of placement in a real work environment. The hours are recommendations, not mandatory minimum placement hours.
This course is delivered online, through live, interactive lessons and through our online learning platform. You will therefore need access to a computer with internet access.
The age ranges covered by the qualification are from 5 years of age. Please note that some knowledge of development in the early years has been included in the specification to enhance learners' understanding.
